New Building Regulations

Home > Our Services > New Building Regulations

July 2005 saw the introduction of Building Regulations Document E “Resistance to the Passage of Sound”. The aim of these regulations is to protect residents from the noise of activities in other rooms or adjoining properties as this has been highlighted as a major cause of tension between residents.
The regulations now apply to any building used as a dwelling including flats and houses as well as rooms for residential purposes (e.g. hotels, nursing homes, student and nursing accommodation). It also applies to any dwelling that has been created as a result of a conversion, for example a house that is being converted into flats.

Devon Soundproofing can advise and install the necessary systems to comply with these new regulations. Please contact us for further information.
